I’m a queer neurodivergent adult from France. My blog is a mess and I’m not sorry.

You may find lots of social justice issues mixed in with fandom stuff.

I strive to be inclusive of everyone. Most of the time.

I am open to discussion and you may contact me via the ask box (will be answered publicly unless otherwise specified) or instant messaging.

I block bigots and porn blogs on sight.

  • hey instead of bullying or scaring you into switching to firefox, let me tell you why i LOVE firefox and how my online life has improved significantly since installing it

    - the setup process is easy, and even fun! if you’re using tumblr rn, you can handle it, and if you’re the kind of tumblr user who likes customizing your blog or tinkering with xkit, you can have a lot of fun personalizing really granular settings and picking themes and extensions and everything, it’s very customizable and i happily spent like 2 hours getting everything perfect.

    - you can use a command line entry tool to change specific settings right from the search bar! i did this to make firefox stop auto filling my email information since i use a different password locker (which you should too! try bitwarden!), and it was easier than digging through a bunch of submenus for a setting i wasn’t sure existed. you can just turn shit off!

    - there’s a preset theme called aurora that’s purple and VERY pretty

    - once you get ublock origin and as many other blockers as you’d like set up, no ads, anywhere, ever! streaming sites, youtube, all the basics, totally no stress and no compatibility issues for me

    - in browser screenshot and picture in picture functions!! holy shit i use these every day, the PiP is especially helpful, it replaced an extension i used to use on chrome and it’s leagues better and works on all video content pretty much

    - overall better downloads management imo, it’s a lot easier to get to your downloads and find them later

    - better bookmark system, with the ability to organize your bookmarks with searchable tags and assign them a shortcut you can type into the search bar to go to

    - containers! you can have two accounts to the same website open in two different tabs and switch between them without having to switch accounts. also gives firefox the ability to contain facebook and their trackers, so you can click that party invite link without feeling like you just let mark zuckerberg into your house

these were just off the top of my head, i love firefox a lot and actively enjoy using it, which i never felt with chrome! please download firefox!! you will not regret it!!! where’s your fucking rage!!!!!! go!!!!!!!!!

  • adding on my extensions starter pack! these are BASICS, there is a whole wide beautiful world of extensions that do useful and silly things. i can save a page im looking at to the wayback machine w a right click! (here)

    1. UBlock Origin - THE adblocker. should come preinstalled w firefox
    2. Privacy Badger, DontTrackMeGoogle, Decentraleyes, TrackMeNot - a healthy suite of track blockers and such, you can never have too many until it starts affecting your performance
    3. ClearURLs - removes all the tracking garbage pages add when you copy paste a url, also makes them shorter and less ugly
    4. Cookie Autodelete - deletes unused cookies whenever you leave a page
    5. I Don't Care About Cookies - according to voices i trust in the security community, this extension was sold to a data seller, remove if if you have it installed
    6. Return YouTube Dislikes - does what it says on the tin, install it and forget they were ever gone!
    7. Shinigami Eyes - applies off of tumblr! will highlight news sources and blogs as anti-trans as well

and if you read through this whole list and still somehow havent yet

  • i wish ppl on this website, and within leftist circles in general, were a little less gung ho about making jokes or statements like "billionaires arent people" "nazis arent people" "police arent people"

there is no level of evil where a human stops being a human. if you decide to kill them for their crimes, then you are killing a human. and sometimes that is justified! oil execs and war profiteers have destroyed countless lives in service of their own sick greed, and given the chance to enact that same violence on them, id probably pop their heads like a pimple.

but it is important that we do not shy away from the reality of that choice. it is a human life that is being ended. a person with interiority, feelings, family.

if we stop considering any group as people, even a group defined by their own evil actions, then we are drawing a line to divide society into persons and non-persons, and stating that those non-persons do not deserve to live.

i hope i dont need to explain why that is a dangerous position to take.

these people and all of their evil, their greed, their hatred, are just as much a part of humanity as art, culture, language, food. they are a part of us that has grown malignant and cancerous, and like a cancer, they must be excised for the sake of the whole--but they are still a part of us, made of the same stuff as us, down to their cores.

    evil humans are still humans.

  • Here's something that a lot of thin people don't know about being fat: you have to be very careful, these days, what the weight limit on your furniture is. So much is made of particleboard or even cardboard or flimsy plastic, and it may be great for the environment for things to be made of recycled materials, but it can easily leave fat people in the incredibly humiliating situation of breaking a chair by sitting on it, or a table by leaning on it. It also creates an effective "fat tax" on furniture, since the more solid materials tend to cost more.

When I was looking for loft beds to make my apartment effectively larger, the majority of them had a weight limit of 200 pounds, including the weight of the mattress. That puts a weight limit on the person of roughly 150 pounds, and that presumes a light mattress. That's not taking into account blankets, pillows, and stuffies, which can easily rack up a weight of around ten to twenty pounds without much trouble, bringing the safe weight for a person down to roughly 140 to 130 pounds. The ones that held more than that had a steep increase in price, with ones that held 300 pounds costing roughly 600$ more than the 200 pound ones, and the 400 pound ones, which I wanted for tolerances, ran a good 800$ more on average than the ones for 200 pounds.

More generally, solid wood, metal, tempered glass, and thick, durable plastic cost more than particleboard, cardboard, and flimsy plastic. They are also far more likely to be safe for fat people to use.

If you are a thin person and want fat people to be comfortable when visiting you, invest in furniture that is clearly made with sturdy materials. Having to brush off standing the whole visit is embarrassing both for us and, if you are a host who cares about the comfort of guests, for you.

  • Everyone, if you harass the person I'm responding to, I will be very disappointed. Please do not.

Putting your tags here for context:

If you look at my blog for a bit, you may notice that I am also disabled and poor. Fat people are not your enemies for being fat. Corporations are both of our enemies for producing flimsy furniture, jacking up the prices on sturdy things, underpaying us, and making it hard to exist as disabled people, as poor people, and as fat people. Keep in mind that disability, poverty, and fatness often feed into each other. We are your community.

It was very easy to assume I wasn't like you. It was very easy to assume this post was bad faith because it hit at something that is hard for you to do. And it is very, very easy to choose to dismiss the post instead of asking for alternatives.

    Here are some.

When fat people are coming over, make a nice place on the floor. Cushions, a rug, etc. These can be found for cheap or free on Craigslist, Freecycle or Buy Nothing groups.

Sturdy furniture can also often be found on these places, specifically because it lasts long enough to be given away. Thrift stores too. I've also found three of my pieces literally on the street- a solid wood side table, a solid wood dresser, and a glass and steel desk. If you can't move them yourself, that does up the social/financial cost, but it's still a lot cheaper than buying new.

If you are renting and it is advertised as furnished, in some cases, when it breaks, you can make a maintenance request for a replacement based on wear and tear. If you specify a higher weight limit, you have a better chance of getting good quality- and that fat people will be able to use it.

You can also choose to meet fat people in locations outside of your residence. Parks often have sturdy furniture, or you can bring an old quilt for them to sit comfortably on the ground.

You aren't a jerk for being poor and disabled. You are being a jerk when you talk about fat people like we are smashing thin people's furniture in order to make them accommodate us. You also are being a jerk when you are dismissing how shitty it is to be locked out of owning certain things or doing certain activities because of circumstances beyond your control- a feeling you may be familiar with, as someone who is poor and disabled.

Consider, next time, if it really is in bad faith.

  • Worst part about this is I've only ever used that yellow square emoji once and it was just to see how it looked. This isn't who I am. However, in retrospect, I suppose it is

  • Reading through the notes is a surreal experience please keep adding more to fuel my effervescent consumption of non descriptive emojis

girl seize the means of production!

  • here's your fucking feedback @staff

list of problems the removal of icons causes:

    • i cant see my friends
    • ruins the sense of community
    • can't tell at a glance who's online right now and what they're interested in
    • literally cannot tell without scrolling back up who put a post on my dash if it has a single addition attached to it. or like. 2 paragraphs in the op.
    • i cant click my own icon at the top of the dash to quickly view my own blog
    • can't tell who someone used to be if they change their username
    • squashes the margins between the menu and posts, making the whole dash feel more cramped
    • ruins the quick visual cue of how long each post is and where it ends when you're trying to scroll past ones youve seen before
    • people put a lot of creativity and individuality into icons, and now i never see them
    • makes people who primarily reblog instead of make their own posts all but completely disappear

list of problems solved by removing icons:

    • ?????
    • who the fuck was asking for this
    • ive never in my life seen a website or app that has profile pics forcibly HIDE them, so i guess you did it you made the dash unique again in the worst way

here's some more feedback: maybe when you run an a/b test you should, idk, actually have a feedback form people can fill out about it somewhere

  • Can someone explain why anyone would even WANT to take icons away? What the motive even is here?

  • The motive is to try and ease people into algorithmically generated content. If you get used to not seeing which of the users you follow, it's not going to be as jarring when you get posts that *none* of the people you follow post. I have nothing to back this up, but I think the people pushing for the Twitter/Facebook/general enshittening features and UI know that almost everyone turns off "best stuff first" and "based on your likes" so they need a more subtle way to add in non-follower content.

And really, that they have turned this on, with no fanfare or even documentation says a lot. This should have been something that went to tumblr labs first, but they have shown that they are fully willing to ignore any feedback that doesn't align with their goals. I've submitted a ticket, and did my best to coach it in language that the shareholders will freak out about, but I am not holding my breath.

Honestly, I'm just waiting for them to stop tweaking javascript and css knobs for long enough that an overarching UI reset fix extension can be made.

  • "In search of better profitability, NetflixDisney, and other providers have been raising prices. The various bundles are now as annoyingly confusing as cable, and they cost basically the same. Somehow, we're also paying to watch ads.

Streaming was supposed to be better and cheaper. You can still stream without ads, but the cost of this is getting so high and the bundling is so complex that it's getting as bad as cable — the technology that streaming was supposed to radically improve upon.

The Financial Times recently reported that a basket of the top US streaming services would cost $87 this fall, compared with $73 a year ago. The average cable TV package was $83 a month, it reported."
